How do I get to Off Road NZ?
Off Road NZ is located 20 minutes north of Rotorua, off SH5, heading towards Hamilton / Auckland. Just follow the signs.
Does Off Road NZ have a shuttle?
Yes, a complimentary shuttle is available from Rotorua City to our Rotorua activity centre, for those without transportation. Bookings are essential and subject to availability. Click here for more information on Off Road NZ’s shuttle service.
What are Off Road NZ’s opening hours?
Off Road NZ is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.00am to 5.00pm. We will operate after 5.00pm by prior arrangement.
What do I bring to Off Road NZ?
Off Road NZ provides all wet whether and safety equipment for our Rotorua 4WD Bush Safari and Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride as well as race suits, full face helmet, gloves and balaclavas for the Raceline Karting experience. All you need to bring is sun protection for the summer, your camera to catch the action, a big sense of adventure and a ‘can do’ attitude. What do I wear to Off Road NZ?
Dress for the great outdoors, with covered shoes, a jacket and a hat.
Are there any age / height restrictions?
The following height restrictions apply:
Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride = 1.2 metres or taller
Raceline Karting = 14 years or older and 1.4 metres or taller
Do I need to show my drivers licence?
Yes, if you are the driver on our 4WD Bush Safari. You will also need to sign a health and safety declaration. No Licence is required for any of our other products, but please check age and height restrictions to avoid disappointment at the counter..
Is a restricted / learner licence ok for the 4WD Bush Safari?
Yes, the same rules apply as the road - i.e. a guest with a learner licence must drive with a passenger who has held their full licence for two years or more.
Do I need an international driver’s licence for the 4WD Bush Safari?
No, but you do need to show us your licence from home and sign a waiver confirming you have a current drivers licence in your country of origin.
Do I have to book my activity at Off Road NZ?

If I am a passenger only on the 4WD Bush Safari, do I still pay?
Yes, the cost is a per person cost and the rate is based on 2 to 4 guests in the vehicle. Being the passenger can be just as thrilling and challenging as being the driver and makes for a fantastic shared experience when sharing the driving.
Can I drive the Monster 4X4?
No, our guides are specifically trained to drive the Monster 4X4. It's not as easy as they make it look!
How many laps do I get during the Raceline Karting Experience?
The amount of laps you do will depend on your driving skill and speed! Come and show us your stuff!
Are there activities at Off Road NZ which are suitable for children?
Yes. All you need to provide are child constraints (if required) for the 4WD Bush Safari. Children must meet the above height and age restrictions for each experience.
Will I get dirty at Off Road NZ?
Off Road NZ provides all wet weather protection to keep you clean.
What if it rains?
Off Road NZ is open WET or FINE and we provide all wet weather protection to keep you dry and clean.
Do you sell gift vouchers?

Does Off Road NZ have a café?
No, but we do have ice creams, snacks and drinks available.
Is there a discount for groups?
No, we keep our prices the same for all our guests from 1 person to 300 plus. You do get a discount rate for purchasing a combo or longer track time on the Raceline Karting.
